Limerick Jazz Festival Friends Scheme
The fourth annual Limerick Jazz Festival will take place on the weekend of September 25 – 27th 2015. Once again we will be presenting a mix of outstanding Irish and international musicians and a programme that combines quality, accessibility and great value for money.
We are particularly pleased to welcome back vibraphonist Tony Miceli from Philadelphia as one of our artists in residence, accompanied on this occasion by vocalist Paul Jost. Paul has a wonderfully eclectic approach combining jazz standards with innovative versions of material ranging from Donovan to Led Zeppelin.
As in previous years there will be street performances across the city over the festival weekend. Linley Hamilton will give a master class at the Hunt Museum on Saturday afternoon and our Festival Jazz Trail will provide free concerts and DJ sessions across city pubs and hotels on Friday and Saturday nights.
Limerick has the most active jazz scene in Ireland outside Dublin. Limerick Jazz Society has been bringing outstanding jazz performances to the city since the 1980s and Limerick Jazz Workshop has been providing jazz education since 2007.
Limerick Jazz Festival is working to capitalize on this track record by creating an event with national reach. The successful regeneration of UK cities such as Glasgow and Liverpool shows that a stronger cultural profile has been vital in transforming their image. We are delighted to be part of the new “061” promotion which will highlight the amount of cultural activity in Limerick as part of the campaign to become Ireland’s European City of Culture in 2020.
The festival is being promoted by Limerick Jazz Society and is supported by Limerick City and County Councils, Limerick Marketing Company, and the Arts Council. More information is available at www.limerickjazzfestival.com.
To make this all happen we need your support. A typical festival in Ireland is funded equally by grant aid, ticket sales and private financial support. By becoming a friend of the Limerick Jazz Festival you will play a vital role in our success and get to enjoy great music by world-class performers.
To become a festival friend for 2015 costs €300. The benefits are
✓Six tickets for any of this year’s concerts
