About Us

Limerick Jazz Society has been promoting music in the midwest for over 30 years.

We run spring and autumn seasons featuring the best of Irish and international contemporary jazz.  The last three years have seen visits from Chris Potter, Thomasz Stanko, John Abercrombie, Manu Katche, Guy Barker and Soweto Kinch.

Limerick has a very strong jazz scene featuring regular promotions of local artists by organizations such as Speakeasy Jazz and recent concert appearances by Wayne Shorter, Bobby McFerrin and Bela Fleck.

We are always keen to get volunteers involved in running Limerick Jazz and can particularly use help in promotion.  Please email or phone if you can spare us some time or have a suitable place for us to put up posters.

2012 was the founding year of the festival and it was a terrific success, with worldwide performing talent from the likes of Liane Carroll and Joe Locke/Geoff Keezer Group, as well as Irish groups Crisis Point and Black Magic Big Band.

2014 was a very special year for Limerick being nominated as City Of Culture and enabled Limerick Jazz Festival to bring some iconic figures to perform here. Artist like Van Morrison and David Sunburn two multi Grammy Award winners in the City was just what was needed.
2015 saw the Jazz Festival raising the bar with some more great performers showcasing their talents, The Jost Project (USA) and Perico Sambaed (Spain) to name but a few). It was another successful year for the festival.
Now in it’s 5th year, the 2016 festival will be host to more homegrown and international artists including Partisans, Atchere, David O’Rouke and the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra. Don’t miss out on the jam-packed weekend from Thurs 22nd Sept – 25th.

Feel free to request being added to our mailing list for the latest news and updates on the festival and society.
